Salt Union

Salt Union is a collaboration between writer, Phil Thornton and musician, Neil Bailey, who both live in Runcorn, Cheshire, where salt has been used in industrial processes for centuries.  Sediment is an experimental work fusing fragments of Phil’s spoken word prose and poetry with Neil’s soundscapes and textures. Samples, manipulated found sounds, voices and instruments also feature within the piece.

The spoken word element explores how personal memory interacts with the natural, man-made and physical and metaphysical spheres based around the industrial history of their hometown. The soundscape uses natural and electronic sounds to accompany the narrative.

This is a demo of  the ‘Sediment’ theme which forms the first collaboration.
